I want to stream a committee meeting, but some members will probably ask for password protection.
What kind of account do I need? Can I password protect both the live stream and the stored video?

1Hi Bob!
Yes, you can password protect any live show or video on a free account. Here's how:
1. Go to your Dashboard
2. Click "Channel" (if you haven't created a channel yet, you will need to do that first)
3. In the menu that appears under your channel, click "Advanced"
4. Check "Make your channel private"
5. Enter a password to protect your channel
6. Click "Save"
Now, when you go live, only people with the password will be able to view your show.
Now if you want to make a video private, you can do that in the "Videos" tab.
1. Under your channel options in the Dashboard, click "Videos"
2. Find the video you want to protect and check the box next to it
3. Click "Actions" and click "Make private"
4. The video will be marked as private, so only you can watch it

Not only was your answer clear and easy to follow -- it was what I wanted to hear! Thanks, Brian. I've been doing all of my work in Livestream, but they want to charge $3500/year for a package of extras that includes password protection!
I groan at the idea of switching from Livestream to Ustream -- all that unlearning and relearning. Hope all my equipment (Logitech Webcam 310 on a HP laptop) will allow me to make the transition,,,, -

Can the broadcasting channel be blocked to public in general but made available to a list of users that is already authenticated on my website? Plus I do not want them to know the password used to protect the broadcasting channel...since I already know they are authenticated, no sense letting them enter in password again...is this possible (I would like to embed broadcasting channel on my website)?

We're using ustream.TV to create a unique international exchange program between Rwandan and American youth. We are developing four-person teams and want to be able to keep their conversations private, with the ability to share them with the world later.
Another option is to perhaps make these discussions available for people to view and share, but without interrupting the students conversations. Is this possible?
