Can I stream HD (actually - 720x480p or even 1280x720) from my Samsung Galaxy Note smartphone? I got sufficient upstream connection (1 to 1.7 MB/sec - megabytes, yes).
I'm hesitating about paying 99$/month for "Pro Broadcasting Starter" and really need to realize - is Ustream mobile client for Android 2.3.6 capable of HD? Or is it capped by bitrate or resolution or whatever??
The phone itself supports videorecording up to 1920x1080. The tech details are here www.samsung.com/uk/consumer/mobile-de...

Hi Vova,
Android system is not capable of HD live streaming. Encoding HD video in realtime requires hardware acceleration on a mobile device. The native camera app has access to it (that's why you can record in HD), but 3rd party apps are blocked. However, we're working on improving the broadcast quality, but don't expect HD broadcasting on Android anytime soon. -

Hi Gergo, perhaps i'm wrong but since ICS deployed other broadcast plattforms like veetle or single broadcast apps that streams locally to vlc players as spydroid or OS broadcaster can access to HD resolutions, (before, in gingerbread apps was unable to start in hd) but still results in remote player showing flickering with horizontal lines, but the problem appears close to resolve. Or not?
Tested in Samsung galaxy S2

How about Galaxy S III?
Is that one able to record and broadcast in HD?
My bandwidth is 2.5 Mbps down and about 850 mbps up. -
