Can we go back to "Old" Ustream page?

You should have left the door open to return to the old version while working out the bugs on the new one! There are too many bugs to mention here and I'm sure you're hearing about them from upset viewers and customers. From the comments I have read from the official reps, I assume it's going to be a take it or leave it situation. As for me, I'm going to leave it.
Just remember "If it ain't broke, don't fix it"!

Jordan, regarding your comments, a question. Why didn't Ustream take all of the feedback into consideration before this platform was rolled out? I mean all you have to is read these posts. People did say what was wrong and Ustream didn't make corrections before this roll out. Why do they have to "evolve the platform? Seems to me that that's just another way of saying working out the bugs.

Also, theatre mode? Really? How does that work for a 7 inch tablet ? I kind of laugh at all of the black surrounding the video in all of the modes. Is it really necessesary to have a pseudo "wide screen format" for computer screens and tablets? Get rid of it. These are computer monitors, not 60 inch flat screen tvs!

Regarding, your other comment, "We hope that once you get used to the new site, and once we roll out changes based on your feedback that you'll find that this is the best way to watch live video on the web"
- We realize you do have to upgrade to keep up with technology. However, it could have and should have been seamless. Thus not having to "get used to it"
- Apparently there already was plenty of feedback regarding all these issues.
Ustream chose to ignore it.
- The platform should have "evolved" in your computer lab before it ever hit the
Ustream Community.
- A heads up well in advance would have been nice. The guise of "Try the New
Ustream" wasn't so innoculous was it?
- Why did you take away the broadcaster's ability to change the backgrounds?
I enjoyed the creativity and personality that I saw on various channels'
backgrounds. Now they are both annoying and boring. Seriously, at this point
in writing, there are over 100 remarks from people that do not like the changes .
It's funny that it can take a flip of a switch to goof everything up, but I wonder
how long it will take to correct?

As an older user of Ustream, I don't like anything that makes it even more difficult to use. I did not do chat the last couple of years and now I am poised, ready to jump in and it is all changed. If you can make the picture bigger, brighter, fine. If it is smaller, dim not so fine. If you can't view and chat at the same time that is really bad. If it takes multiple steps to get it right, that is not good. Please keep in mind that many of us have a difficult time with change and computers in general. Help us, don't make it more difficult and frustrating. I am a devoted Decorah viewer. They spent a lot of money to improve our viewing/participating experience this year. I hope it is going to be better than ever. I guess it's up to you to make sure that happens. Help us, don't hurt us!!

YOU PEOPLE ARE NOT LISTENING USTREAM, YOU HAVE A MILLION AND ONE COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS VERY UNHAPPY ABOUT THIS NEW USTREAM, IT HAS CUT OFF CHATS ON FFRC AND THE PIC SUCKS, WHY DON'T YOU JUST GO BACK, OBVIOUSLY THIS IS NO GOOD!!

My background image has now been completely screwed by this unrequested, unnecessary and unwanted layout change and there is apparently no way I can fix it from my end.

I do not regard ustream's desire to keep web developers occupied with busy-work as a rational or valid reason to completely mess up a page that I took great pains to lay out the way I wanted it to look.

This is a total disregard of what suits the end user. All end users should have the ability to revert back to the page layout that they built to represent their site, and not some artsy-fartsy one-size-fits-all that a 20-something web geek thought would "look good".

Ustream's approach here is ham-fisted at best. As long as I am in compliance with the ToS of this site, I wish for MY page to be LEFT ALONE.

The "new and improved" ustream is not an improvement. No refresh for just the live streaming screen-you have to refresh from your browser which dumps all previous posts in chat. I absolutely hate the tie in to Facebook-comments made by people who don't watch regularly are frustrating to those that do as they take things out of context. If I wanted to see FB comments, I'll go to FB. I don't need to see them on the screen I'm looking at. The whole ustream page is wayyyyy tooo big! I can't reduce the screen to just the chat like I used to as chat is too far over now. And last but not least, what's with all the black???? It is not pleasing to the eye-I miss the individual backgrounds that each of the streams had-now they're all gone. Seems to me you've taken ustream down to a basic boredom and taken individuality away. Shame on you-especially when we are experiencing freezes and split chats, etc. due to ustream performance issues. The old saying "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" is true in this case.

The New Ustream is VERY VERY DISAPPOINTING!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is the worst upgrade I have seen yet. very hard to see with all the black background, the social stream shrunk which makes it harder to see with "older eyes", when u try to chat, it covers up part of the chat, the pic is smaller. Overall i can sum up the "New Ustream" in 1 word - it S U C K S !!!

This new format STINKS! I am completely out of estrogen and this is NOT helping my mood. When you enlarge the cam window the SS window goes below it. What genius came us with this layout? Why waste all the space on each side and make the cam window so small? Could y'all not find ANYTHING else to do today?

My comments:

- The comment space overlaps the chat window when typing a comment.
- The chat window drops down below the cam window when you make it larger, which makes it very difficult to view and chat at the same time.
- There is a lot of wasted space around the cam window, around the comments posted, which makes the two main reasons we are here less user friendly.
- There is no refresh button on just the cam for those of us that lose the cam view but don't want to refresh the entire page, losing the list of comments.
- The log in function doesn't work well. Logging in takes several attempts and refreshes. Then the systems shows you as logged in but repeatedly asks you to log in.
- The links to the other RRP cams are now below the window, which makes the instructions, links etc. even further down on the page for folks to go find.
- How you make a change is sometimes as important as the change that is being made. You may think you have built a "better" mousetrap, but it has to be accepted and embraced for it to really work.

Thanks for this feedback. Here are suggestions for things we need:

(1) We need to be able to refresh the streaming image. (Occasionally ours freezes, and we used to have the ability to refresh it.)

(2) New Social Stream posts overlay the last post made so you can't read it. Please fix this.

(3) Reduce space between Social Stream posts so more than be viewed on the screen.

(4) Increase the viewing size of the live streaming pic and also increase the space available for Social Stream.

There will be other suggestions forthcoming.

Ya Know, you gave us the option to "try" the new ustream. I thought it was our choice whether or not we wanted it. I personally didn't. I don't like the fact Ustream arbitrarily forced it on us. This version stinks. The black border is too big. The picture is too small. If I try to increase the size of the picture, then I lose a chunk of the chat. You all should have kept it as a beta until you had worked out all the bugs. Also, there are periodic flashes of green on the screen.

So I guess we are now living in a society where you think it's good or better for us whether we like it or not.
For those who want it fine but the majority of us like it the way it has been.
Thanks Ustream, someday there will be more options than Ustream.
Put us back the way it was.
