Decorah eagles freezing with ustream app on ipad2
I have been trying to watch the decorah eagles on ustream using both safari and the app, and it keeps freezing every few minutes. What can I do, other than keep refreshing?

Have you checked how is your internet connection?
The most common is insufficient bandwidth on the broadcaster's side or on the viewer's side. To see what your bandwidth is, go to http://www.speakeasy.net/speedtest and click "Los Angeles" We recommend having an upload speed of 1-2Mbps for broadcasting, and a download speed of at least 1Mbps for smooth playback. You may be able to broadcast and watch with download speeds much less than these, but some broadcasts have very high bitrates and in order to watch them, you will need a faster connection.
Another possible cause of choppiness or pausing playback is insufficient CPU resources on the broadcaster or the viewer side. Older computer's graphics cards may have a difficult time encoding and decoding live and recorded video. We recommend shutting down all other applications and browser tabs / windows while broadcasting and viewing if you are experiencing playback problems.-

The first thing that the speakeasy website requires is Flash, Ipad does not support Flash. Secondly, why would I click Los Angeles when I live on the east coast?
This does not help me at all. -

Yes, you are right- iPad does not support Flash. I was just suggesting that you try to test what your download speed is. We suggest selecting Los Angeles because that is where our servers are.

It doesn't even show Los Angeles. Why did you give us a solution we can't use to fix problem?

I am (was) also watching the Decorah eagles show but the Ustream iPad app simply won ́t load on iPad1 (iOS 5.1). It fails to load the show from the server. Broke since the most recent update this month.
Previously, the app worked although would give me frequent black screens (on any show). My internet connection is above 1 Mbps. I don ́t live in L.A either. Should I move there?- view 5 more comments

@mamaw15182 - Sorry you're having troubles running the speed test.
You're right www.speakeasy.net/speedtest is not compatible with iPhones. Sorry for the confusion!
I recommend you go to www.speedtest.net - they are compatible and even have a free app so you can test easily in the future as well.
What exactly is the problem you're experiencing? Most times viewing issues are caused by slow internet so these tests help to confirm that, but we recommend mobile viewers connect to a wi-fi network. Have you tried that? -

I have the iPad3. I am on wifi. I tested with the speedtest.net app and I have 16.01Mbps Download and 3.70Mbps Upload. That should be plenty fast. I too used to be able to use the UStream App to watch the eagles with no problem. Within the last week just this channel has gotten choppy and eventually goes to audio only. I have no problem with any of the other channels, just decoraheagles.
I get the same issue if I bypass the app and go directly to the site via safari. However if I use my pc it works fine. It is just on the iPad and just recently started. I even powered off the ipad and brought it back up... same issue.- view 1 more comment

I have the same problem, Jon. Ustream does not seem to be able to fix it. It would be decent if they would at least respond as to why this only happens with Decorah!

Wud be nice to have a fix. Not a solution but temporary workaround might be force quiting the Ustream app and restarting the iPad - this worked at least for a while to bring the picture back (on an "ancient" iPad1) but the problem returned eventually. (-- also have no problems viewing on a regular PC)

I'm watching Decorah on my laptop and on my ipad2 it says it's off air...it doesn't even show up via the Ustream app or on Safari. The last few days the app has been crashing multiple times a day. Prior to that it would freeze and I would reload. I've rebooted...I'm out of ideas. How can it be on air and off air at the same time?-
What version of the Ustream app and iOS are you using? Can you please try seeing if there are any updates available?
I just tested the Eagles on an iPhone and iPad and the stream was live.
What do you see when the channel does not show up? -

Hi,
I am also facing the same problem with Uttaradimath broadcast on my iPad2.speedtest shows download speed as 4.32mbps. I tried to delegate the app and reinstall it . It works some times but not consistently . It says unable to connect to server pl check back later.
I am in Bangalore , India. -
