Download all your videos from a channel

We released today a podcast RSS feed which lists all your videos (including private ones) for a given channel. This RSS feed needs you to authenticate yourself, so nobody else can access it but you, the rightul owner.

With this RSS feed you can download all your videos automatically with capable podcast softwares. Today I'm going to show you how this goes with my favorite podcast consuming software, Miro. Miro is an open source software, available free of charge for Windows, Mac OS X and various other platforms.

1) Visit http://www.getmiro.com/, download the software and install it
2) Open Miro and add a new podcast to it.

3) Enter the podcast RSS url for your channel ( https://www.ustream.tv/channel//0/vide...) and replace the show url in it and click on "Create Podcast" (or just press Enter).

E.g. if you channel url is https://www.ustream.tv/channel/mychannel, then the RSS url will be https://www.ustream.tv/channel/mychann...

Tip: You can replace the number 0 in the url with 1 if you want to download only over quota videos.

4) Provide your username and password to access the videos and you should now see your channel showing up in the available podcasts.

5) Click on your channel and set the autodownload method to "All" by pressing the button (#3 on the illustration) twice.

Done. Your videos now downloading and ready to be watched right from Miro if you wish. Additionally, your downloaded video files can be found in your user's Movies directory, under the folder called Miro and your show's url tag.

  Yes, you can cherrypick with Miro or any other podcast software which supports RSS feeds. In Miro just add the podcast feed and click on download on the videos you want.

I've try this to solve my problems... but still the same.
I download the video, say it has 31:58... but it only play 5 seconds... can you help on this, please.

  Yes the video play the full length on Ustream... so I don't understand when downloading it show that as that time... but only play 5 sec.

  I checked the video you are most likely talking about, and it seems broken. The quality of the stream we recorded the video is very poor which resulted in this broken video. Some programs do play it back, although with huge skips, some absolutely not. Unfortunately I cannot fix this video for you.

It's really a good hint for us. I also used to download videos from Ustream with a 3rd party video download manager. Apart from getting recorded videos off Ustream.tv, it also has a screen recorder to record live videos. Moreover, it can convert videos for watching with portable multimedia players.

My username and password don't work although I can log in to my channel without any problems. The input mask just appears again and again...

  Thank you for your attention. You see, I am not the owner of the channel - I just bought a subscription. So I guess I'll have to continue to download the shows individually to use offline. Sorry, I didn't get that this article was directed to owners.

Is there a reason this would not work in iTunes? I tried and then just switched to miro once I was frustrated enough.

  Well, iTunes require some special RSS tags which we don't include because it confuses other RSS feed readers while iTunes won't work with some standard mRSS tags. So since iTunes is just one podcast consuming app, we went with the standard mRSS feed. That is the reason in a nutshell.

  but the program videos do not get downloaded, i assume is something form your server.
  
  another thing is... i made 47 videos (3gb total) and since 2 weeks ago i can not save the recording. so i`m missing mi programs and the audience can not seen later as i commented to them. so in some way you are offering something that you do not provide.

Miro does not appear to return any videos from my RSS stream, despite there being several in the raw data of the stream itself.

  I'm not sure what you mean by "raw data of the stream itself" in this context, but the mRSS feed we provide can be accessed in a browser as well so you can check if it contains items for the given channel or not. If it does and Miro does not pull them, then the problem is with Miro itself. Maybe you can try pulling the FLV and MP4 files directly via the browser or from command line via curl or wget.

  Can you try it in any other type of browser? Apparently we are experiencing download problems with Google Chrome.
