Geographical location of viewers by country

Thank you for posting your idea about expanding the Metics section to include data on the location of the viewers broken down by country. This is a feature we are considering in the future.

Why would anyone need the IP addresses and/or the detailed geographical location of the viewers anywhere!! That is supposed to be private. It would be like using your real name on every website on the internet. I certainly hope this is not approved.

  Totally understand the privacy concerns here and let me add a little more detail here so that this feature doesn't get misinterpreted.
  
  There is one feature which is already available and one feature which is only under consideration and may or may not be developed.
  
  Geographical location of your viewers is currently available to Pro Broadcasters as part of our Live Analytics Console.
  
  This presents only aggregated, anonymized data about geographical location down to a country and state level. For example, I can see that I have 100 viewers in the US and 50 in the state of New York.
  
  I can't find out the exact location of a specific viewer with this feature.
  
  IP addresses of specific viewers is not a feature that we offer. We may offer it in the future, but it would only be available as a "secure" stream feature where viewers would have to opt-in to watch a stream and they would need to explicitly give permission for the broadcaster to see their IP address.
  
  This would be used for a situation like this. As a company, I might want to host a company meeting on Ustream. However, I want to make sure only specific people can watch. In order to make sure only people from within my company are watching, I would want to know the IP addresses of everyone that is currently connected to the stream.
  
  I want to stress, we do not currently offer this feature and may never in the future, but if we did, rest assured it would only be allowed with explicit permission from each viewer that they were revealing that data to the broadcaster.
  
  We want to respect the privacy and in many cases the anonymity of our viewers, unless our viewers chose to participate in ways that reveals their identity (e.g. participating in chat with their Ustream or Facebook identity). We do not always aim for total anonymity, because total anonymity prevents many forms of social engagement and in many cases encourages spammers and trolls.
  
  To summarize, currently the most detailed data that broadcasters have is that there is a viewer located in specific states, but there is no identifying information linking that data to specific usernames or IP addresses.

  IP addresses can be traced with free tools online to street addresses and this is definitely not a good thing. I traced an email spoofer to his home address this way. (I work in IT support). Respect listeners' privacy and do not show IPs!

  that i think is a great idea to get to know where your broadcast is followed, not specific details, but at least the country and the town, and of course the amount of viewers.

I think it's a great idea! Give at lest the Moderators the ability to see where they are watching from, it is greatly encouraging to know you have regular viewers from Finland to the Ghana to Brazil and Kansas, USA.

I am in favor of this option as well. I host an online service for my church and appreciate knowing how far we are reaching whether they are our members who are traveling or visitors to our website. However, I do agree with the privacy aspect and would only want to know the City and State for US viewers and City and Province/Country for viewers outside the US.
