Is anyone else having a problem chatting on ustream? My keyboard works fine everwhere but in chat rooms on ustream. It is very frustrating because I have many friends that I chat with,
The problems I am finding are keys wont work all the time, so i am contunually having to correct. Keyboard works just fine everywhere else.

I have the same problem. Happened after I upgraded Flash. IE9, it happens for me when I broadcast. I have checked drivers, uninstalled and reinstalled flash. It's very very annoying. Have to type very slowly. And again, it is only slow on chat. I have a Logitech wireless keyboard, but have tried wired. I am broadcasting with a Logitech PRO 9000 cam. Posted this same problem under username Scuzzi.

I updated the latest version that is available
I also tried Chrome, IE9 and Firefox.
I emptied my cookies.
I don't know what else to do. It happens on all ustream social streams. -

What are the exact version numbers of your IE and Firefox web browsers?
Do you have any ad ons installed for your web browsers? -

A new development. The keyboard returns to regular speed if I pop out the chat.
So it seems to have the problem only in the chat box when I'm broadcasting.
Flash Version is 11.3.300.257, Windows 7, 32-bit
Internet Explorer version is: 9.0.8112.16421, 256-bit cypher strength.
I tried using Firefox but it somehow didn't see my camera. (Logitech Pro 9000) -

It only happens during SS for me, outside of that my computer keyboard is fine, like when I am typing this without any problems. My words per minute is about 100, with problem, 10 with 10 errors. very pathetic and frustrated. I will not be returning to any ustream sites, too aggravating.
I block ads, that's never changed in this whole time that problem has developed. -

I am still trying to replicate this issue. Are you able to get this to happen when you are a broadcaster and a viewer? Does it occur in both the regular Ustream website and the new beta site? -

it's occurring for me whether I'm broadcasting or now. When I try the beta version, I'm not getting a chat box at all. I am not connecting with Facebook. It says Social is off. I haven't changed the social setting from the old to the new. I suspect this problem (no chat in beta) is just user error. :) Thanks for looking into this. If you need any more information in your quest, don't hesitate to ask.
In the original ustream, I am getting a banner ad that says I don't have the latest browser, but I do, so I'm not going to click on it. -

I am still having the problem with the slow, intermittent keyboard (only in Ustream chat). And in the new version there is no way to pop out the chat. Is there any possible solution to this problem?

Often times this can occur because your computer is under load playing back the video. Then if you are trying to chat your computer also has to process that. The intermittent typing in a sign that the CPU is under excessive load.
How can you help prevent or limit this:
-Avoid watching multiple channels at once or having other programs or tabs/windows open?
-Please make sure you do not have any unnecessary items running in the system tray and that you are not scanning your computer with anti-virus software while you are watching a streem.
-You can also try clearing you caches and making sure that you are on the latest version of Adobe Flash -

Thanks. I have been broadcasting for several years with the same configuration. I think ustream is broadcasting in higher definition so I'll try some further tests regarding the overload theory. I generally have only one other tab open when I broadcast. I used to pop the chat out and be fine but since I have not enabled the Social Stream, I don't have that option any longer. There are no virus scans running. I did clear my cache and update Flash. Thanks for your suggestions. I'll do some further looking. I tried chatting on a different computer this morning while broadcasting and still had the lag. Is there a way to get the chat popout button without enabling Facebook?

They are currently working on enabling pop-out for chat only. You are correct the only way to currently use pop-out chat is to also have Social Stream enabled.
