How to do broadcast from multiple cameras?
I'd like to offer ustream as a service for wedding events with up to 4 camera feeds, 2 static & 2 mobile. Anyone have advice on camera equipment and what I'll need for 4 live feeds?

Hi,
The Web Broadcaster and the free Producer software will each publish from a single camera source. To incorporate mutliple camera sources (on a single machine), we recommend the Producer Pro software (US$199).
There are other solutions: incorporating an external video switcher in front of a software encoder, or a standalone hardware system such as NewTek's Tricaster.
Please see our Multiple Camera feature in Producer Pro or Producer Studio.
Please, note that Producer Pro nor Producer Studio provide you with ad free stream. If you want to do ad free broadcasting, please see our Pro Broadcasting packages.
To see what the difference between Producer Pro and Pro Broadcasting is, please see this article.

I agree on needing the Producer Pro software. While at a wedding and we are walking around with a camcorder or 2, how can I send the data up to usteam? The 2 static camcorders can use the same laptop broadband connection.

Hi Jeff! While it may possible for you to get wireless gear to transmit your 2 mobile cameras to your Producer Pro feed, we do not recommend it because it often results in very poor video quality and most times wireless cameras don't work with our encoders. We've really only seen wireless success while using Producer Studio, not Producer Pro, but even then it's unfortunately hit or miss.
What we always recommend is to just give it a test run and see how it's working for you. We have a test-before-you-buy setup in our Producer program that allows you to switch to trial versions of Producer Pro and Studio. For step-by-step directions on how to do that please go here: https://ustream.zendesk.com/entries/2...
There is a thread started here though regarding wireless camera broadcasting. I'd recommend keeping tabs on this article for updates on recommended equipment: http://community.ustream.tv/ustream/t...
Hope that helps! Happy Ustreaming :)-

Çan you give me a list of what cameras this works w/?
I want to stream bands and weddings.
I will need to use at least one camera w/ a shotgun mic for the audio.
I want to be able to switch between 3 cameras while maintaining the audio from the camera w/ the shotgun mic. is this doable?
also, is there anyway to get this to work w/ the GoPro wireless stream device?

For broadcasting our HS basketball games, we have a Sony HDV firewire camera, a Sony AVCHD camera, and 4 or 5 webcams all connected at once. All camera feeds go to the computer, we can switch back and forth to any camera we want.

We are connecting two 65-foot USB 2 cables to get 130 feet. If we try to add on one more extension to that, we get a message saying we have too many extensions. We bought them here:
http://www.govconnection.com/IPA/Shop...
We also bought some of these, they're cheaper, but didn't always work at 130 feet:

I've had no problems with multiple cameras with both Producer Pro and also Producer Pro Studio (which I now use). I used 3 cameras with Producer Pro. Sometimes one of the cameras did not work (Blue Screen). In most cases I got it working, sometimes by shutting down system and rebooting. The better computer you have the better results you will get. I have a 2011 IMac. Also, do not have devices plugged into the usb ports that you don't need for your show. I have wireless a keyboard and mouse which helps.
Now I'm using 2 High Def web cams. Three high def camera put too much for the computer to handle. I was having problems using the High Def broadcast setting, but then I stopped using a hard wire from my router and depended on wireless to the internet. Quality is no different that I can see, and I don't have to plug the cable into computer.
Hope this helps. -

We are using PC - I've only been able to connect up a non-iEEE camera via a digital converter box
