We are aware of ongoing issues our users are having with their downloaded .flv files.
Most of the issues occur when the user tries to convert the .flv to another format to bring into a movie editing program.
Other issues occur if users try to open and play the .flv files in anything other than Flash Media Player.
We are currently working on this issue and will keep you posted on progress.

I've downloaded all of our videos. They are in flv format.
I try to import them into Flash CS3, and there is no video, only sound, with every video I import.
I'm trying these all locally.
Is there something wrong with the flv files that prevent me from importing them into Flash CS2???

Hi,
There seems to be a problem with the FLV files when you download them. this is the third week I've had errors with the FLV files trying to convert it to an MP3. I've used a few converters and they are all showing errors.
Can you please check into this to see what the problem is.
Thank you
Regards
Alan

I have downloaded my recorded videos many times. I have no problem downloading the .flv files. The problem is getting them to play. When I open the files they will begin to play, but will only do so for a few seconds then stop. The video player will acknowledge that the full video is there, by showing the accurate length of the videos. I have this problem with all the media players that I have played them in. I have no problem playing other .flv files. I have also tried to open the files in Adobe After Effects. It is unable to accurately read the files. I have downloaded the videos straight from the site as well as using varies programs to download the videos. All the files I have downloaded have the same result. I believe that the .flv files are some how corrupt and would like help to resolve this problem.

I have a problem. When i record videos, how does it come that when the video is 1 hour and 16 minutes, i only can see 31 minutes of video footage in it? I downloaded the FLV file, and watched it in VLC player, and even converted it into a another videoformat but still, i still miss half of the recorded footage? It happens with every recorded movie.
1 hour and 16 mins recorded but 31 mins of movie in the FLV file?
59 mins recorded but 19 minutes movie in the flv file?
I know there is a 3 hour limit, but it doesnt even record it? The videos say that they are the entire length, but are only half as long? i think there is something wrong with the encoding process to an FLV file?

when I try to download a video from my account, the download only contains about 2 seconds and not the whole recording. Does anyone have any idea why this happens? Is the downloading option a paid feature?

I am trying to download my own videos to my computer, but the download stops after less than 3 mbs have downloaded. The movie is less than 250 mbs in size so I don't understand why it stops, nevermind why the download speed is throttled (which is not entirely unexpected, being that mine is a free account. This has happened 4 or 5 times...

We are having similar problems. FLV files fail to convert to other formats, regardless of the software we use for the conversion. Also - and this is a huge problem as well - videos uploaded to YouTube directly from Ustream fail to convert.
-
Do you have the URLs of the videos that you were having trouble so I can look at them?

found a free conversion utility that I tried yesterday and it converted a file that I couldn't convert with any other program I've tried.

Hello Lisa, we are having the same problems that are listed here. The video and audio open up in the editor but then the video will only run for about 5 seconds and then it freezes up. Can you contact us?

You can try downloading the MP4 version of the video. I tested it and it plays back on my computer in VLC. When you go to the videos page click on the arrow to the right of the delete button. Then choose Download as MP4.

We are having the same problem. We cannot seem to download our streams without them corrupting. Is there any other way we can possibly download our streams in a different file format over than .flv? If a moderator could contact us it would be much appreciated.
Thank you.-

Can you please let me know the specific URLs of the videos so I can take a look? -

If someone would contact us as well. We were able to get one video to work perfectly, the second is only downloading the first two minutes of what is a 35 minute video. Thanks
-
Kinnara,
Have you tried downloading the mp4 version of the video? -
-
-
-
Yes, It does not give me the choice to download that. I also had someone down load the fly file on a different machine. They tried three different conversion programs. none would go past 2 minutes. on a 35 minute program. The other video works perfectly.

I have NO OPTION to download into MP4 or anything. Just FLV and it doesn't play on a MACBOOK no matter what I do.
VLC works on a Dell, but I need this on my MAC, I can't use PC and can't edit on PC and have no time for this.

The journey continues. The FLV file still does not work. The MP4 works until 16 minutes in, then the picture freezes until the 28 minute mark( the sound continues. and after 28 minutes the video continues fine.) Whats going on here? Any help is appreciated.

spreadart,
Click on the arrow under the video in the video list. You will then be able to download the MP4 version. -

It sounds like I'm having a similar issue. My video is at https://www.ustream.tv/recorded/23111655 It plays the full 6m22s of it on there. But when I try to download either the flv or mp4 file of it in the manager (or going to the direct flv link), it only lets me download the first 7 seconds. (I tried uploading it to YouTube, and it initially says it's 6m23s long, but immediately it edits the time to 8s.) I really would like the full audio from this particular upload of mine if at all possible. Thank you.

Eridian,
This case is starting to drift away from download FLVs not playing back and is going more towards Android. Can you please post a new question detailing your Android version, App Version and Phone model? -
-
No, this particular case is just a thing with your server or the file itself. I'm not concerned with the video versus audio at all; that happens all the time with my Android. What has never happened before is being able to hear the whole recording, and your site saying it's uploading the whole recording to either me or to YouTube, and then only sending 7 seconds of it. If there's any way for me to save the full length of this particular recording, I would greatly appreciate it.

I am also experiencing this issue. Want to edit pieces of multiple streams in FCP.
The .mp4 download only allows me to grab a small fraction (2:20) of the 50 minute stream.
I can download the .flv in full but when I try to convert it to .mp4 using Adobe Media Encoder CS5 I receive the following error "The source compression type is not supported".
I brought the .flv into mpeg streamclip to transcode. Lo and behold the result was another 2:20 .mp4-
Ditto here. =( I've tried everything I can think of, myself.

Hello,
My response is similar to those before me. I can fully download my recorded upstream video; however, a still image appears although I can hear the discussion. I am working on a Mac, and I urgently need to edit this and several other videos for presentation. I desire to edit my videos in iMovie.
May you assist me, please?-
I contacted you via email.
